Festival of Roses in Bulgaria

…on this fine day take one Bulgarian rose from me, and let it speak /remind/ to you with its fragrant voice, of the Balkans, of the sea, and of all of us….

Somewhere in mid Bulgaria, between the Balkan Mountain Range and Sredna Gora Mountain, stretches the famous Valley of the Roses. For more than 400 years, billions of roses have bloomed there, and have brought the fame of our lands.

By the end of May - the beginning of June, the air here is thick with rose aroma. In the first weekend of June each year, to honour the Rose Queen, people hold the Rose Festival. The festivities mark the start of the traditional rose-harvest. The tender petals of the rose-oil yielding flowers are used to produce the world-famous rose oil, the main component for many cosmetic products. And this is not all! What about rose-brandy, rose-liqueur, or even rose-marmalade! We offer you to let yourself be absorbed and lost in the world's only and unique rose-festivities, and to enjoy the fragrance and taste of the rose-products.
