Sofia
Picturesquely located in the Sofia valley at the foot of the Vitosha
Mountains, the capital of Bulgaria
is a political, business and cultural
centre of the country.
Founded more than 7,000 years
ago, amongst numerous hot and
cold mineral springs existing
even nowadays, Sofia has been
flourishing and developing through
the variety of different civilizations.
A number of archaeological, cultural
and historical monuments dating
back to the Thracian, Byzantine
and Roman times and preserved
throughout the centuries of the
Turkish yoke up to present days,
rising among the modern buildings
carrying the waft of antiquity, are a
part of the charm of the Bulgarian
capital.
Along with its modern cosmopolitan
character Sofia is a city of light and
relaxing atmosphere and provides
lots of opportunities for recreation.
As any other capital Sofia is rich
in museums and galleries and
proud of its cultural events and
